SUCCESS FOR BOWLERS FROM BRADWORTHY, TOPSHAM AND SHALDON IN COUNTY COMPETITIONS…..

The final stages of some of the Minor Competitions have been played at Culm Vale and Madeira. In the Over 60’s Singles, Pete Wade (Bradworthy B.C.), having beaten Dave Vinnicombe from Torquay in his semi-final, won the title by defeating Richard Avent (New Plymouth), who had been successful against Mick Powell from Topsham in his semi-final. The score in the final was 21-12. The Grater Pairs was won by Kevin Phillips and Jamie Heard (Topsham) who beat the Culm Vale pairing of Aaron Clements and Dominic Tuckett in the final by 19-11.
At Madeira, Shaldon’s domination of the County Trophy continued as they managed to defeat Culm Vale in the final by 88-71, winning through in the last seven ends after at one stage being nineteen shots down. Also played on Sunday was the outstanding Major Competition final, and this resulted in a win for Ryan Whitlock (Shaldon) over his clubmate Lee Haywood by 17-10 in the Two-Wood Competition.
