Plymouth Sir Francis Drake
The Club is situated in Whiteford Road, Mannamead, a northern suburb of Plymouth, about two miles from Plymouth Hoe, where Sir Francis Drake is said to have played bowls as the Spanish Armada approached, and where this club was based from its foundation in 1907 until 1922, when it moved to the present site.
The club is privately owned and administered by Trustees. There is one green which can accommodate up to eight rinks and a spacious clubhouse with changing rooms, bar, kitchen and a conservatory area, from where you can watch the play in comfort and warmth.
There is a full fixture list of friendly and competitive matches and a series of social events throughout the year. We regularly welcome touring teams.
