Starcross & District
Starcross is a village situated on the West bank of the River Exe midway between Exeter and Dawlish in the county of Devon.
It is popular in the summer with leisure craft and is home to one of the oldest sailing clubs’ in the UK. it also attracts many bird watchers as the ‘Exe’ is used by migrating birds in season.
The A379 and London to Penzance railway runs through the village and a small passenger ferry crosses the Exe to the East bank during the summer months.
A notable feature of the village is the Italianate pumping engine house, the best surviving building from Brunel’s unsuccessful Atmospheric Railway.
Founded in 1922 our Club is a busy part of the local community boasting a membership of over 130 including non-playing members.
