Torbay Country Bowling Club

Our club is situated within the beautiful gardens of Oldway Mansion, former home of the Singer Sewing Machine family. The bowling green is just off the A3022 Torquay Road.

In the 1920’s Oldway Mansion ceased to be the private residence of the Singer family and in 1929 the Torbay Country Club was formed, providing facilities for golf, tennis, squash and badminton.
In 1930 a bowls section was formed and a second full sized green was constructed and opened in 1931.

Torbay Country Bowling Club is affiliated to Bowls England and Bowls Devon. There are eight bowling sections within Devon and T.C.B.C. is in Section 6. Our men have four teams in the Mid Devon League and two teams in the over 55 League. The men play in the Top Club, Interclub, County Trophy and Foxland Trophy competitions. The ladies play in all the County competitions and have three teams in the South Devon Ladies’ Bowls League. There is a club night on Thursday evenings which is very popular.

The club has a membership of around 145 playing members and 40 social members. New members are very welcome and free coaching is available if needed. We have an active social calendar and have monthly social events throughout the season. Coffee mornings are held every Saturday morning during the winter and are very well supported.

The club is very pleased to welcome touring teams and is proud to offer first class facilities including a well stocked bar. We can accommodate up to 12 rinks at one time.
