Yelverton
Yelverton Bowling Club was founded in 1927, and has around 65
members, attracting players from all around the local area, including
some parts of Plymouth and Yelverton’s neighbouring towns and villages.
We are a friendly and inclusive club, having men’s, ladies’ and mixed
teams, as well as a Junior Section.
Our clubhouse and green are just a short distance from Yelverton village
centre, at Meavy Lane next to the Yelverton War Memorial Hall, where
there is ample parking.
We are affiliated to Bowls England and Bowls Devon and our Men’s team
regularly play matches within the Plymouth and District League.
Our Ladies’ team participates in the Border Triples and friendly matches.
Our Club Night runs every Thursday throughout the season, starting at
around 6pm. These evenings give members and guests a chance to
practise their skills in a friendly environment. Visitors are welcome to join
us on Club Night.
All of our members are encouraged to enter club competitions, and there
is a weekend every season dedicated to playing the finals and celebrating
the achievements of our members. Players are supported if they wish to
enter County competitions, working towards their County badges.
In addition to league and competition matches we also play friendly
matches with other local clubs, and so there are plenty of opportunities to
play both competitively as well as social bowls just for fun.
We offer coaching at Senior and Junior levels from beginners to
experienced bowlers and have qualified coaches who are able to deliver
this.
It’s not all bowls either – enjoyable though that is – we have an active and
well supported social side, holding lunches, quizzes, whist drives, car boot
sales and general get togethers all year round.
