Congratulations to both squads of players on winning the Johns Trophy and Middleton Cup which were held over the final weekend at Leamington. In the Johns, the ladies beat Yorkshire in the semi-final by 137-96 before going on to beat Northamptonshire in the final by 111-65. The men overcame Berkshire by 118-64 in their semi-final before going on to beat Lincolnshire in the final by 125-111. This success for the ladies follows on from them winning the Competition in 2023, whilst 2019 was the last occasion when the men were successful.
This team success follows on from Devon winning the Men’s Triples (Simon Broom, Jamie Chestney and Jamie Walker from Culm Vale) and Men’s Pairs (James Hampton and Sam Tolchard (Kings). In addition, Sophie Tolchard (Kings) finished as Runner-Up in the Women’s Singles, Lauren Selway and Emma Cooper (Kings) were runners-up in the Pairs and Kings BC Ladies lost to Royal Leamington Spa in the final of the Top Club by three disciplines to one. In the Family Pairs Competition, the event was won by Gary and Grant Howland (Gary plays for Topsham and Grant now plays for a club In Lancashire) with the runners-up being Gary and Alan Routledge from Torbay Country Club.
