Congratulations to Bowls Devon Ladies on winning the Johns Trophy by beating Surrey in the final. Having beaten Essex in the semi-final by six shots in a tight game which swung to and fro, they played the same County they had beaten by two shots in the 2021 final. This time the margin of victory was six, 116-110, so they had two very close games. The trophy was presented to Bowls Devon by our Lady President, Sandra Andrews, whose great-grandmother, Clara Johns, inaugurated the trophy in 1933.
This team success follows on from Sophie Tolchard, Nicole Rogers, and Harriet Stevens (Kings BC) winning the Ladies’ Triples. Also, the Plymouth SFD duo of Gill Grantham and Alison Spreadborough finished as runners-up in the Ladies’ Pairs and the Amy Rose team lost by one shot to Kent in the final of that competition.
Finally, congratulations to Nicole Rogers and Harriet Stevens on being selected to take part in the prestigious Hong Kong International Bowls Classic from November 11th-19th.
